Our interior design firm is looking for an design assistant to work in our Brooklyn office. We’re a small team-based office in which every role is essential. This position requires someone quick to learn, attentive to details, and able to multi-task with grace.

The ideal candidate has either an interior design degree or previous work experience in a design firm-- both are not required, but at least one is. This individual is to be highly organized and self-sufficient. A positive attitude and a willingness to participate and be hands-on wherever needed is very important.

We currently maintain two offices—one in Brooklyn, one in Turks and Caicos—so a valid passport and a willingness to travel is essential. All team members participate in installs, which may require travel abroad.

Job Description:

• Provide daily general assistance to Principal and Senior Designer
• Create purchase orders in Quickbooks
• Follow up on deliveries to ensure deadlines are met
• Make payment on purchase orders
• Work closely with bookkeeper to help track and manage office expenses as well as other miscellaneous accounting
• Assist in requesting pricing and finish/material samples for project use
• Maintaining of material/finish sample library
• Answering of phones and general admin
• General office maintenance (restocking office, cleaning and pantry supplies, prepping office for meetings, accepting and opening deliveries, etc.)

Job Requirements:

• B.A./B.S. (Ideally in interior design)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Highly organized, self-sufficient, and intuitive
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong verbal and communication skills
• Strong multi-tasking skills
• Must be able to work efficiently and effectively under deadlines
• Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks
• Must have a passport
• Willingness and ability to travel in group or alone
• Knowledge of AutoCad
• Ability to read and edit construction documents (i.e. floorplans, elevations, etc.)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
